Güímar opens the Dolores Gutiérrez school farm, located on Las Brujas road. Managed by the Fundación Canaria El Buen Samaritano, it will be used as a training center on organic farming and the students will benefit from what they harvest. You will receive basic training in agriculture, in tasks such as tillage, sowing and irrigation, rotating crops, management of agricultural utensils, environmental aspects, as well as how to treat the products and how to cook them.
The objective of this school farm is to promote the training and employability of the population by teaching courses with which to obtain professional certificates such as the Level 2 Organic Agriculture CP, the Level 2 Herbaceous Crops CP, the Auxiliary Activities CP in Agriculture Level 1 and the CP of Interpretation and Environmental Education Level 3.
Likewise, occupational workshops linked to the natural environment will be given and popular traditions and customs will be brought closer. Canary Islands to educational centers and neighbors who wish to develop leisure and free time activities in their facilities. The elaboration of artisan products is also contemplated.
The canarian government support this initiative. Its Director General of Institutional Relations of the Vice Presidency, Carmen Nieves Gaspar, participated in the inauguration of the Dolores Gutiérrez school farm, forum in which he highlighted the project “represents a social advance for its users and contributes to regenerating the agricultural environment while conserving the traditional landscape of our medianías”.
Institutional Relations subsidizes the farm’s equipment, such as brushcutters, motor mowers, choppers, trailers, seed drills, chainsaws and other tools necessary to create the practical training classroom for this project.
The area has green spaces with trees, rest areas, a training center and a camping area. With the project, the Fundación Canaria El Buen Samaritano hopes to strengthen personal development and build solid self-esteem among users.
