Professionals from the United States seek filming locations in Tenerife

A group of production and localization professionals in the audiovisual industry in the United States recently traveled to Tenerife to see the filming locations on the island, where they also met with some local producers and companies.

This action has been promoted by Tenerife Tourismthrough the Tenerife Film Commission, in collaboration with Canary Island Films, from the Government of the Canary Islands and with the proposal of the Shooting Locations Marketplace fair.

The attendees participated in a guided tour through the main streets and monuments of the municipalities of Santa Cruz, Garachico and La Laguna, although they also met other fundamental points of the island, such as the Teide National Park, Anaga, Las Teresitas or Las Gaviotas.

The president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Peter Martinexplained that all the people who participated in this initiative “are immersed in international projects and have come to the island to learn about the possibilities it offers.”

“In addition, during the visit they had the opportunity to meet with seven local production companies and service companies, which is a great opportunity for them to get to know us, to increase relations with this country and to attract future collaborations and filming,” he added.

Pedro Martín wanted to remember that so far this year “the island has hosted five North American productions, with a considerable economic impact in hiring personnel, service companies and hotels”. He highlighted the filming of the second season of ‘Foundation’, an Apple TV series, or the last season of ‘Jack Ryan’.

The island president added that in 2021 the island hosted a total of 190 filmings, which generated more than 8,500 jobs and spending on the island of almost 60 million euros. An economic impact that broke record figures on the island.

Regarding the possibilities of Tenerife as a filming location, Pedro Martín highlighted “the beauty and variety of the island’s landscapes, where the volcanic soil gives way to spectacular forests, cliffs and beaches”. Similarly, he highlighted “the tax incentives for producers and our good climate, that allows recordings to be made practically throughout the year”.

The reason for this visit has been to allow producers and localizers to get to know first-hand the variety of locations and infrastructures that the island has and introduce them to the local companies with which they can work on a production.
