SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 12 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Canarian Academy of Language will celebrate on November 25 and 26 in Arrecife (Lanzarote) the VIII Conference on the Spanish of the Canary Islands, which will be dedicated to the teaching of the Spanish of the Canary Islands and the Literature written in the Islands.
The main objective of the meeting is to generate a forum for reflection on these issues, in order to outline proposals that can improve teaching practice in these areas.
The afternoon of Friday the 25th will focus on the teaching of Spanish in the Canary Islands. The session will begin with the intervention of Gonzalo Ortega, Professor of Spanish Language at the University of La Laguna and full academician of the Foundation, who will address the main spelling difficulties faced by Canarian students.
Next, the teachers Carmen Pilar Concepción Marante, Rosa de Jesús Hernández León and María Alejandra Hernández Ramos, who make up the committee that prepares the curriculum for Spanish Language and Literature in Secondary Education, will give an account of the main novelties of the new decree in relation to Spanish from the Canary Islands
The session will conclude with a round table that will have the objective of analyzing the materials for teaching the Canarian variety of Spanish, which will be coordinated by the numerary academic Manuel Torres Stinga, and in which the academics Humberto Hernández, Antonio Lorenzo Ramos, Marcial Morera and Gonzalo Ortega.
Saturday’s session will be dedicated to the teaching of Literature. Coordinated by the academic Yolanda Arencibia Santana, Emeritus Professor of Spanish Literature and holder of the Benito Pérez Galdós Chair at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, and by Benigno León Felipe, Associate Professor of the Department of Spanish Philology at the University of La Laguna. and collaborator of the Literature area of the Canarian Academy of Language, will host their interventions on the teaching of Literature, which will be followed by a round table on teaching strategies in this field, in which the teachers Beatriz Morales Fernández, Nayra Pérez Hernández and Bárbara Rodríguez Martín.
The sessions will take place in the House of Culture Agustín de la Hoz, located at Avenida de La Marina, number 7.
