Valle San Lorenzo, one of the most populated areas in the southern midlands, can now boast of being a sports city after the official inauguration, yesterday, of a covered pavilion, next to the wrestling arena and the Óscar Pérez Barrios soccer field. A sports offer that is complemented by the urbanization of the surroundings and a parking area for a hundred cars. The global investment has exceeded 2.8 million euros.
The new sports center is the great symbol of the area and one of the architectural icons of Valle San Lorenzo. Its avant-garde design has been recognized with the NAN Award for Architecture and Construction. The venue has a constructed area of 2,724 square metres, with parquet flooring on the slopes, accessible bathrooms and changing rooms, as well as low-consumption lighting and security systems. It has an auxiliary area of 470 square metres, another for the lobby and changing rooms and a third for courts of 2,018 square metres.

As for the urbanization, in addition to the parking area, public lighting, a bus stop and a promenade adapted for people with reduced mobility have been installed. In addition, landscaped spaces have been created.
The president of the Cabildo, Pedro Martín, attended the launch of the new sports area, who highlighted the “firm commitment” of the Insular Corporation to provide the island’s citizens with “modern, versatile, accessible and respectful infrastructures with the environment, which guarantee the comprehensive provision of public services. Martín stressed that one of the island government’s priorities has been and is “to strengthen alliances with the municipalities to more effectively meet the needs of the population.”
For his part, the mayor of Arona, José Julián Mena, indicated that with this set of works “the objective of creating a modern space is fulfilled, generating an important pool of car parks, which is one of the most important demands that we have transmitted the neighbors in recent years”.
The pavilion, completed during the pandemic, although it had not been officially inaugurated pending the completion of the surrounding urbanization works, could not have had a better premiere, with the holding of a training session for Lenovo Tenerife, current leader of the League ACB, which was followed from the stands by numerous fans.
