They are two independent actions, but if the neighbors decide, they will be directly related. It’s about the Dique street remodeling worksin San Andrés, and those of the car park at the head of the beach, on the site of the tome, where more than 300 parking spaces will be set up.
The City Hall of Santa Cruz has asked the residents to decide whether to wait for these car parks, whose conditioning will be ready in March, or to start the remodeling of the street in mid-January, once the parking lots on the maritime avenue are modified, those in the lane closest to the sea, to put them in battery.
This was communicated by the mayor, José Manuel Bermúdez, who, accompanied by the councilor for Works, Dámaso Arteaga, and the mayor of the Anaga district, Inmaculada Fuentes, met on Monday afternoon with neighbors and merchants from San Andrés with the purpose of re-explaining the Dique street remodeling project and sounding out the ideal moment for the start of the works. According to Bermúdez, the soonest they could start would be in January, once “the feasibility report is received to convert the car parks on the avenue to a battery layout, which would largely solve the parking lots that will be suppressed until they are The ones at the head of Las Teresitas are available”, indicated the mayor.

It was the Councilor for Works who sounded out the neighbors about “the possibility that the execution would begin in mid-January, without having the car parks in the area of the Las Teresitas beachhead, or, on the contrary, wait for these parking spaces to be ready, around March, with which the works would start around April or May”. Furthermore, he added that “In the first case. they would extend until approximately August, and in the second, they would arrive until the month of December or the beginning of January” and affirmed that “now it is you, residents and merchants, who must decide when is the best time”.
Bermúdez insisted to those attending the meeting that “the remodeling of Dique Street, a project that has already been awarded, intends to provide this road with possibilities to become a pedestrian recreation area that promotes commerce in the area” .
From the El Pescador de San Andrés Neighborhood Association it was valued that the City Council not only had the opinion of the neighbors, “but also that we have been given the possibility of deciding on some matters, such as the beginning of the works, in relation to the issue of car parks. This is precisely the biggest concern that we neighbors have”, they point out from the association.
Likewise, they add that the preference of the neighbors is that the works begin when the car parks of the beachhead are ready. Only if Mobility authorizes that the car parks on the avenue can be put in battery, would they consider starting the works before.
