SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 9 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife has donated 5,000 euros to the NGO Maresía, dedicated to the promotion of international volunteering, corresponding to the amount of aid reached during the ‘Solidarity Challenge 2022’ in which a hundred workers from the island corporation and the dependent public sector, who managed to accumulate 17,213 kilometers in physical activity.
The award ceremony, held at the Tenerife Auditorium, was attended by the island president, Pedro Martín, the second vice president and Minister of the Presidency, Finance and Modernization, Berta Pérez, and the island director of Human Resources and Legal Advice, Lidia Pereira.
There, the particular winners of the ‘Solidarity Challenge’ were also awarded, as well as the finalists of the five contests and contests of the program of cultural activities developed throughout the year.
During his speech, Pedro Martín was “proud of the solidarity and social commitment maintained by the workers of the Cabildo”, while highlighting “the feeling of belonging and community that exists among the institution’s staff”.
Berta Pérez stressed, for her part, the importance of “establishing new links beyond strictly labor relations, both through solidarity initiatives such as this one and through cultural activities, with the aim of generating a work environment that favors well-being and productivity.
In this same sense, Lidia Pereira highlighted “the possibility offered by this type of initiative to share and strengthen ties with co-workers, beyond the whirlwind of everyday life, in addition to promoting physical practice, as a benefit for the health of the staff.
The winning NGO was chosen through a vote open to all Cabildo staff, in which Maresía obtained 25% of the total votes.
Through this non-profit entity, training actions are promoted in the field of development cooperation, as well as participation in international volunteer projects and activities of education and empowerment of women, all of them focused on Nepal.
Together with her, Pedro José Rodríguez Pomares, from the Insular Directorate of Modernization, and Leyla Noemí Miras Pineda, from the Autonomous Museums Organization (OAMC), were distinguished as absolute winners of the Solidarity Challenge in the male and female categories, respectively.
Prizes were also given to the winners of the Euroasia, Africa and America-Oceania micro-challenges, which went to Laura Redal Iglesias (IASS), Rebeca Alemán (IASS) and Francisca Nieves González Amador, from Education and Youth.
CULTURAL AWARDS
With regard to the program of cultural activities, during the event the winners of the short story contest were awarded to Ernesto García Rodríguez, from the Citizen Attention Administrative Service, for the work 1948 and Marta de Reyna Fau, from the Strategic Planning and Coordination Office , for the story ‘The open door’.
In relation to the poetry contest, Margarita del Pino Delgado Gutiérrez, from Sinpromi, was awarded for the poem ‘En mis Flancos’, and Violeta Martín Galindo, from the Natural Environment and Security Management Service for ‘Mírame’.
The first and second prizes in the Photography contest were also awarded, which went to Noemí González Vidal, and Teresa Jesús Yanes Hernández, both from the Tourism area, for ‘Eterna Normalidad’, and Pasajero C-19, respectively.
In Plastic Works, the works ‘Teno’ and ‘The cycle of wild biodiversity’ were distinguished, presented by Marta de Reyna Fau, from the Strategic Planning and Coordination Office, and by María Celeste Marrero Baute from the Environmental Management technical service.
The act concluded with the delivery of a gift to the workers and workers who have participated in the different activities and sports games, collects a note from the Cabildo.
In total, the number of workers who have participated this year in the various cultural, sports and solidarity activities organized by the Cabildo has doubled to over 200 people.
