Neighborhood protests continue in what is known as san sebastian avenue (currently called avenue Tenerife Sports Club), in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, where the change of name of this road has generated discomfort in some of the residents. Thus, this Thursday you can see numerous posters with which those affected claim that the avenue is still called ‘San Sebastián’.
It should be remembered that it was last September, on the occasion of the 100 years of the C.D. Tenerifewhen San Sebastián Avenue was renamed to honor the blue and white entity, but not all the residents of the area agree.
Thus, last Friday two dozen people demonstrated for San Sebastián Avenue to recover its name. Those same neighbors believe that it is a “political decision” and ask that the old denomination be the official one again.
The name change process began a year ago, through the Association of Former Players of the Tenerife Sports Club, joining numerous fully representative entities in the sports, social, cultural, business and economic fields of the city. From the outset, this group of neighbors expressed their disagreement, something they have reiterated in recent weeks.
