The works for the improvement of the La Campana Industrial Estate will resume before the end of the year. The works, which began in March 2020, have been paralyzed for 23 months (January 2021) after the termination of the contract with the company Construcciones Abaldo SA due to “several breaches” of the contract. Before the end of this month, the new contract will be signed by the Cabildo and the winning joint venture, made up of Satocan, Hidrotec and Ten Asfaltos. The budget for the work to be carried out amounts to 12.7 million euros.
Escolástico Gil, mayor of El Rosario, confirmed that the City Council hosted a meeting in which technicians from the public company Gestur explained the new schedule planned to resume the works of the project Reform and adaptation of the urbanization and general facilities of the San Isidro Industrial Estate -El Chorrillo (The Bell). In said meeting, Gil was informed that the formalization of the new contract will take place at the end of November, after which time the winning joint venture has one month to start the work, so it is expected to start at the end of December at the latest, he explains.
“I can only demand greater diligence on this issue by the Cabildo”
The Town Hall of Tenerife, the administration responsible for the work, suspended the contract with the previous successful bidder in January 2021 due to breaches detected during the course of the work. In addition, in July 2020, six months before the contract was terminated, the El Rosario City Council had already transferred an exhaustive report to the Insular Corporation through which “all breaches located on site were accredited and detailed in detail. ». Document bearing the signature of municipal technicians.
The mayor of El Rosario, Escolástico Gil, now announces that, “just as we did on the previous occasion, the City Council will assign several municipal technicians to the task of verifying that the execution of the work is consistent with the original reform project, whose I remember that agreement was signed in September 2018, being president of the Cabildo the current island councilor Carlos Alonso ». For this reason, the councilor “deeply” regrets that more than four years have elapsed since that moment, for which Gil Hernández maintains that “I can only demand, again and again, greater diligence on this issue by the current island government , because since the first award of the work everything has been done wrong and late, ”he adds.
Escolástico Gil hopes that, “now yes, this new award will be the solution for La Campana and that we can face an action with which we committed ourselves with the 300 companies and 2,500 workers who go to work every day in a destroyed polygon and with serious deficiencies ». This improvement is a “historic demand” in which the City Council has been working since mid-2015, when Gil became Mayor
The councilor from Rosario emphasizes that “La Campana is not an industrial estate exclusively in El Rosario, but rather an enclave of insular interest that accommodates many companies and an important niche of job of the metropolitan area.
