SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 10 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The proposal of the president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Pedro Martín, to award the island’s ‘Gold Medal’ to Club Deportivo Tenerife has obtained the support of the Honors and Distinctions Commission of the island corporation in which all the parties are integrated politicians with representation in the institution, and it will be taken to the plenary session this November.
Pedro Martín has highlighted that during the hundred years that have elapsed since its foundation, CD Tenerife has actively participated in the sporting and socioeconomic life of the island and although its headquarters were established in the capital, where it also undertook the construction of a new game –the Stadium inaugurated in 1925, where the Heliodoro Rodríguez López stands today–, the feeling of Tenerife spreads throughout the insular geography, in each and every one of its municipalities.
The island president has also stated in a note that “the sporting career, which celebrates its centenary in 2022, and the representative role that this Club plays in Tenerife society, make it worthy of holding the highest distinction offered by the Government of the island”.
