The City Hall of Santa Cruz de Tenerife has established an important security and traffic device to make possible the celebration, next Sunday, of the eighth edition of the Tenerife Marathon. On Sunday, it is planned that all the roads affected by the route of this sporting event will be closed to traffic at 07:30 on Sunday, November 13. In the necessary deployment for the Tenerife Marathon The Local Police will participate, supported by personnel from the capital’s Civil Protection volunteer group and qualified auxiliaries from the organization of the test itself. As in previous years, in the 21 and 42 kilometer modalities, the planned itinerary will start along Francisco La Roche avenue, the coastal road tunnel, Marítima avenue, Constitución avenue, Fomento street next to the Regla hermitage; Vicente Álvarez Pedreira, Adán Martín Menis, Celia Cruz streets, Manuel Hermoso Rojas avenue; Mayor José Emilio García Gómez and Áurea Díaz Flores streets. Measures to facilitate mobility
During Sunday, and while the test lasts, the Local Police will enable one lane in each direction of traffic on the San Andrés highway, to facilitate access and exit to the different neighborhoods and towns of Anaga. Once again, the auxiliary road of the Port of Tenerife will remain open to traffic, between 07:00 and 19:00 on Sunday, mainly to offer an alternative to the traffic that moves along that axis in both directions. Also to connect the city with Anaga, in both directions of circulation, the Ramblas de Santa Cruz road can be used.
Another of the areas most affected by the development of the marathon will be the neighborhood of El Toscal, establishing that access to that area should be from the Santos ravine road, La Concordia promenade, Ramón y Cajal extension, Juan Padrón, Miraflores or Alfaro, San Clemente and Santiago street. The start will be guided through the streets San Miguel, San Nicolás, San Vicente Ferrer, Santiago, Santa Rosalía, Antonio de Lara and Zárate, Pilar, Suárez Guerra, San Francisco de Paula and extension of Ramón y Cajal. Also on Saturday, from 2:00 p.m., parking is prohibited and, from 4:00 p.m., circulation on Francisco La Roche avenue, in the section between La Marina and República de Honduras streets. At that time, it is planned to cut off the access to the Vía Litoral tunnel, heading north, at the confluence of Avenida Marítima with Avenida San Sebastián, diverting traffic to Avenida Tres de Mayo.
In addition, on Saturday, from 6:00 p.m., the possibility of parking in the streets Méndez Núñez, San Isidro, a section of Santiago street (between San Vicente Ferrer and Santa Rosalía) La Rosa street, La Marina and República from Honduras. On Sunday, from 00:00 hours, it will be prohibited to park in: Plaza de España, Anaga Avenue, the parking lots in front of the Valleseco neighborhood, close to the area of hydrocarbon deposits; Bravo Murillo avenue; El Pilar street (between Suárez Guerra and San Clemente) and Villalba Hervás street (between José Murphy and San Francisco) except autotaxis from this prohibition.
Public transport
The Local Police of the capital of Tenerife insists on recommending the use of public transport to access the city, whether you come to enjoy this sporting event or to make arrangements or purchases.
The celebration of this sporting event will also mean the alteration of the usual routes of some urban lines of the TITSA bus service from Saturday, although the service will continue with some modifications of stops, which will be facilitated in cases such as those located in Cueva Bermeja, Valleseco and Maria Jimenez. Although some taxi stops are suppressed, the main ones that will be operational in the area or its vicinity will be those on Pilar, Villalba Hervás, General Gutiérrez and Carlos JR Hamilton streets.
Regarding the tram service, it must be remembered that, from 08:00 a.m. and until the crossing of Bravo Murillo street with Imeldo Serís street can be opened to circulation, it will circulate only between the stops on Trinidad avenue, de La Laguna, and to Plaza de La Paz in the capital of Tenerife, so during this period the stops at Plaza Weyler, Teatro Guimerá, Fundación and Intercambiador will not be operational.
