This presentation will be given by Joaquín Castro San Luis, journalist and member of the National Association of Art Critics. The exhibition can be visited until November 25, from Monday to Sunday, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. This exhibition has the collaboration of the College of Industrial Engineers of Santa Cruz de Tenerife (COIITF).
The title of the collection is ‘Intimacy’. The author himself explains that “I wanted to capture sensations of peace on elements, mainly from the Canary Islands, and thus transmit a reflection to the viewer”.
Araquistain presents 23 works with diverse themes: nearby landscapes, still lifes, florals and expressionism. “The theme is diverse, but focused on everyday elements and landscapes, with a certain chromatic exaltation,” says the painter. This new collection reflects the work of three years, a work done in oil, both on canvas and on board.
Alfonso Araquistain was born in Bilbao in 1951 and studied painting under the Basque artist Isidro Ortiz de Villalba, at the same time that he was studying Industrial Engineering in his hometown. His first individual exhibition took place in 1976 in Cantabria and, after a long parenthesis of exclusive dedication to his profession as an engineer, he has dedicated himself since 2005 to painting as his only activity.
Araquistain has lived in Tenerife since 1984 and has, to date, held exhibitions both in the Canary Islands and on the Peninsula. His works are in private and institutional collections. The previous exhibition of this painter at Recreo took place in April 2020. His work has also been part of the collective exhibitions that the Círculo periodically programs.
