SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 9 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Pedro Martín, presented this Wednesday the actions planned to commemorate the twenty-fifth anniversary of ‘Tenerife Isla Solidaria’, a program dependent on Sinpromi that integrates 603 social entities from all areas of voluntary action.

Martín was accompanied by the CEO of Citizen Participation and Diversity, Nauzet Gugliotta and a broad representation of the staff of ‘Tenerife Isla Solidaria’.

Pedro Martín took stock of the quarter of a century of activity that will be celebrated under the slogan ’25 years helping you to help’.

“Tenerife Isla Solidaria reaches its 25th anniversary with a budget of 1,203,289 euros, compared to the 104,676 euros with which it began its journey in 1997. A good part of this increase has been made in recent years, in those of us who have gone from a budget of 430,000 euros when we started the mandate to 1.2 million this year, thus tripling its funding”, he indicated.

In addition, the president said that “the program began with 3 jobs and currently has a staff of 25 people, a sign of the commitment to strengthen the associative fabric on the island and what is meant by building community and build Tenerife”.

In these 25 years, he continued, “more than 461,624 services have been provided to people and entities on the island, providing information and advice services, humanitarian aid, and provision of equipment and infrastructure, among other actions.”

He also stressed the importance of continuing to strengthen collaboration and work between administrations, town halls, groups and associations, to promote coordinated policies that reach the largest possible number of people.

For his part, Nauzet Gugliotta stressed that “in the last three years the entities linked to this great family that is ‘Tenerife Isla Solidaria’ have increased by 30 percent, and this has been achieved not only with economic resources, but also through the proximity of the services of the entities and their accompaniment to people in vulnerable situations”.

Gugliotta advanced the main actions planned to celebrate these 25 years “to make visible, recognize, and above all thank, the work of volunteer entities and volunteers.”

GALA EL SAUZAL

The central act of the program will be the ’25th Anniversary Gala’ to be held on December 15 at the El Sauzal Theatre.

Under the motto ‘Volunteering is at a Gala’, tribute will be paid to the supportive, responsible and committed work of entities, volunteers, companies, educational centres, the media and administrations.

In this act, in addition, the ‘Solidarity Awards’ will be awarded.

Previously, on December 5, the ‘International Volunteer Day’ will take place, a day in which, among other activities, the recognition of the 25th anniversary of the Federation Platform of Voluntary Entities of the Canary Islands, which was created the same day, is planned than the ‘Tenerife Solidarity Island Program’.

In addition, ‘Tenerife Isla Solidaria’ has prepared the sensitization and awareness campaign called #atiquetemueve, to value voluntary action through which volunteers are given a voice so that they tell what their contribution to society consists of and the motivations that drive them to volunteer.

Gugliotta added that with this campaign they want to “inspire” the different sectors of society, companies, educational centers, administrations and professional associations “to continue promoting solidarity work among citizens.”

ONLINE VOLUNTEER

The CEO listed the most significant campaigns, such as online volunteering, promoted by Cabildo and ITER, which during the pandemic made it easier for entities to use technological tools in the distribution of essential products.

“To date, 18 entities already have this platform and make use of it, which has favored the attention to 7,018 people and 2,375 deliveries have been registered,” he said.

This year a digital transformation project has also been approved, which has an economic contribution of 566,290 euros, to continue promoting online volunteering.

Among the outstanding figures, 133 fundraising actions have been carried out, which have allowed volunteer organizations to raise economic resources for their projects, which together add up to a total of 364,000 euros and non-economic resources worth 11,700 euros.

In addition, over these 25 years, 10,000 people have been trained, with more than 400 courses given and more than 250 entities trained.

The CEO also highlighted the creation of the Migrant Persons Assistance Service, derived from an initial action that began during the pandemic to alleviate the situation of social vulnerability in which many people found themselves.
