SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 8 (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Canarian Nationalist Group has sent the president of the Canary Islands, Ángel Víctor Torres, a document containing measures to improve the Budget of the Autonomous Community so that “the evident increase in funds goes directly to alleviate the economy of families, companies and productive sectors whose financial sustainability is faltering due to the general rise in prices”.
According to José Miguel Barragán and Rosa Dávila, who offered a press conference explaining the contents of the proposal, “we want the Budget Law for 2023 to be the most effective tool possible for this moment of uncertainty, a useful tool in which the citizenship is reflected”
“It is incomprehensible that the government, in these three years, has closed its budgets with a surplus, collects more than ever due to inflation and has debt capacity and does not reverse these conditions in those who are suffocated by inflation,” Dávila said.
In this sense, Barragán wondered if the Government “would be willing to enter into a dialogue and seek consensus on the measures that are missing to make this budget for 2023 an opportunity for the citizenry as a whole or we will find ourselves again with an action unilateral decision of the Canarian Executive to deal with these circumstances”.
In the opinion of the nationalist representatives, the actions that are missing from the Bill have to do with essential public services (housing, employment, health, social policies), fiscal measures against inflation, direct aid, a multi-year plan for the recovery of La Palma, reform and modernization of the Public Administration, public employment, assumption of the competence of Coasts and insularized needs; “all of them should be included in the 2023 Budget.”
