SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 8 (EUROPE PRESS) –

The Cabildo de Tenerife, through the Tenerife Rural Foundation, has launched an extensive program of activities to promote the island’s wines during the month of November with workshops, tastings, presentations, theater performances and concerts that will culminate in on Wednesday, November 30 with the delivery of the ‘San Andrés 2022’ award.

The program, called ‘San Andrés Mes del Vino’, was presented this Tuesday at the Casa del Vino in Tenerife by the island councilor for Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Javier Parrilla; the head of the Oenology Unit of the Cabildo, María Hontoria; and the head of the Cabildo’s Agrifood Quality and Valorization Service, Antonio Bentabol.

The actors Manuel Luis and Antonia Jaster also participated, who performed a small theatrical performance to present the cultural activities that will take place throughout the month.

During his speech, Parrilla explained that this program “which combines culture, gastronomy and oenology will feature top-level regional, national and international speakers who will continue to publicize the wide range of wine and wine tourism on offer on the island and boost its consumption and penetration on the menus of Tenerife restaurants”.

The island manager stressed that “this action is part of the intense work strategy for the promotion of the island’s wines that was launched from the beginning of the mandate.”

In this sense, he stated that the dissemination of Tenerife wines “cannot be a one-off act, but rather a continuous and lasting process, because those who taste them want to continue discovering and consuming them”.

The head of the Cabildo Oenology Unit, María Hontoria, valued “the effort made to launch this program” and explained that the talks and presentations, which will take place at the Casa del Vino, “will cover the entire chain of value of the wine, from vineyard management to marketing or staging in restaurants”.

For his part, Antonio Bentabol pointed out that the objective is “to reinforce the culmination of the celebration of San Andrés, on November 30.”

However, he said, “there will also be a cycle of talks and presentations especially aimed at professionals in the sector with top-level speakers.”

Later, at 6:00 p.m., there will be a conference on the applications of wine and vermouth in the world of cocktails, in which the teacher Miguel Machado will address their combination in classic, avant-garde cocktails and the latest trends in this sector.

On November 14, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., a ‘Professional Conference of the Wine Sector called 100 x 100 Wines’ will be organized in which the aim will be to combine the field of marketing with that of production and, in the afternoon, From 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, the ‘World Exhibition of Wine in the Graceful Art of Painting and the Embedded Scene’, by Jaster & Luis Creaciones, is scheduled.

On November 23, the presentation by Pedro Balda stands out, at 4:00 p.m., on the ecological management of vineyards in Tenerife, and that by Jorge Zerolo, at 6:00 p.m., on the management of vine plant material in Canarian viticulture.

Finally, the presentation, on Wednesday, November 30 at 6:00 p.m., by the well-known master of wine (MW) Pedro Ballesteros, who will sensorily tour Tenerife and its very different landscapes, heights and microclimates through a single grape variety, stands out. , the listán negro –the mother grape of the island–.

WINE TASTING AND NOVELS

On a cultural level, on November 12, in collaboration with the Tacoronte City Council and within the framework of the second edition of the municipality’s Historical Novel Festival, the tasting ‘Qué novela me bobo’ will be held, in which the wines will be harmonized from Tenerife with the historical novels of the authors present that weekend at the festival, such as Luis Zueco, María Reig, Antonio Pérez Henares or José Zoilo from Tenerife.
