SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 8 (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife, through the area of Social Action, Citizen Participation and Diversity, collaborates with Radio ECCA to promote the training of Roma women on the island in order to promote their social and labor inclusion.
The CEO of Citizen Participation and Diversity, Nauzet Gugliotta, and the CEO of Equality and Prevention of Gender Violence, Priscila de León, today received several of the beneficiaries of this initiative, which will provide free training to a total of fifteen women between 17 and 40 years old so that they can start their studies or continue with them in basic training and graduate in secondary education.
The course, which began on September 1 and will last until June 30, 2023, is now in its second edition. For Nauzet Gugliotta, “it constitutes a gateway to the training of this fortnight of Roma women, it will allow them to improve their qualifications and acquire digital knowledge, among other resources and tools, to favor their employability conditions”.
“Throughout the entire training process they will be accompanied by an intermediation service to refer them to other projects where they can continue with more academic studies and guide them in their job search process,” added Gugliotta.
Priscila de León, for her part, encouraged them “to make the most of the training, since they will become a benchmark for other gypsy women on the island, especially among the young women who will surely follow their example”. De León added that “this training responds to our firm commitment to diversity and inclusion. With it we want to contribute to the empowerment of Roma women, favor their participation and full social integration.”
The training program will include complementary activities on social skills for professional development, relationship skills, knowledge of gender equality and concepts related to citizen participation. It will also include specific training on the use of technological tools and digital skills.
The course presentation ceremony was attended by several representatives of the Romí Camela Nakerar Women’s Association, as well as the director of Radio ECCA, José María Segura; the regional head of the Canary Islands, Vanesa Santana; the delegate from Tenerife Centro, Ricardo Felipe Pérez, and the project technician, Marta Soto, who detailed the lines of work of this training offer, its objectives and actions. This course is part of the Social Initiatives program for the active inclusion of citizens 2022, between the Cabildo and Radio ECCA to promote information and awareness actions that favor citizen participation through the radio stations of the station.
During the meeting, the CEO, Nauzet Gugliotta, recalled that the Cabildo is working through the Insular Board of the Roma People in order to develop policies aimed at Roma people, especially women and young people, in areas related to training , employment, health and dissemination of the Roma culture, among other lines of action, that favor their full integration and participation in community life.
