The Island Government Council has approved the contribution of one million euros to the Santa Cruz City Council for the execution of rehabilitation works on 381 social homes in the Añaza neighborhood of the capital, an initiative that will be jointly financed by several public administrations and the owners of the real estate.
The works are included in the Programmed Rehabilitation Residential Environment improvement program (ERRP) planned for Añaza. The Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda will contribute, with European funds, 10,287,162 euros; the Cabildo de Tenerife will contribute this year with an item of one million euros; the City Council will do so with 1,408,301 euros, to be financed in three annual installments (2023-2025); and the owners will contribute 523,875 euros.
The island president, Pedro Martín, highlights that “from the Cabildo we fulfill the commitment to support and cooperate with all the municipalities of the Island, on this occasion, in a matter as important as the rehabilitation of homes and the improvement of quality life of the people who live in them.
For this reason, he added, “we have approved in the Governing Council the agreement to be signed with the City Council that will allow the direct transfer of the million euros from the Cabildo to this project,” adds the president.
For his part, the island councilor for Municipal Cooperation and Housing, Zebenzuí Chinea, explains that “we want to contribute to the transformation and recovery of this residential environment and respond to the demand for improvement raised for years by neighbors so that they can have homes in the best conditions of habitability and accessibility”.
Chinea clarifies that “this economic contribution is the result of the collaboration commitment that we signed in July between the Governments of Spain and the Canary Islands, the Cabildo and the City Council to jointly finance this action, with which families in vulnerable situations will be especially helped. society in the locality.
The project also contemplates the execution of works to guarantee the sustainability and energy efficiency of the houses, as well as the conditioning of spaces and common areas.
