SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 7 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation, José Manuel Albares, has shown this Monday his conviction that the Spanish presidency of the EU in the second half of 2023, together with the Canarian presidency of the ORs this year, will promote the ” potential” of the archipelago.
In a talk-colloquium in the ‘Foro Premium Diario de Avisos’, he believes that there will be “a double impact” that will benefit Macaronesia while confirming that there will be a high-level meeting in Gran Canaria linked to health and the Conference on Presidents of the ORs in Tenerife.
He has predicted that the Spanish presidency will be “a success” and they want to take it to the whole country.
“Much is expected of Spain”, he indicated, stressing as main objectives to undertake an energy reform in the EU as a whole despite the fact that there are “strong discrepancies”, to achieve a “true balanced pact on migration and asylum”, to increase development of renewable energies to combat climate change and avoid dependence on Russian gas and “look again” at Latin America with a “powerful” financing plan and the recovery of trade agreements.
