An 18-year-old boy drowned on a beach in La Orotava, Tenerife

An 18-year-old boy drowned on the afternoon of Thursday, November 3, and another was rescued in serious condition. The events occurred on the Ancón beach, in La Orotava, according to sources from 112.

The people who gave the alert reported that the two bathers had reached the shore of the beach dragged by a wave and with signs of drowning.

Health personnel confirmed that one of them had died and that the other was in serious condition, for which he needed to be transferred urgently to a hospital.

Given the difficulty of access by the emergency services to the beach, he was evacuated by a Maritime Rescue helicopter to the Tenerife North airport, where an ambulance picked him up and took him to the University Hospital of the Canary Islands.
