SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Nov. 2 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The spokesman for the Canarian Nationalist Group, José Miguel Barragán, and the deputy Nieves Lady Barreto, presented this Wednesday at a press conference the amendments they have presented to Bill 20 that modifies the Land Law and other provisions with the aim of contributing structural measures that contribute to the reconstruction of La Palma and provide certainty to the thousands of people affected.
These include the creation of a consortium to manage the consequences of the eruption; the exception of municipal taxes on land affected by the eruption that intends to rebuild what was damaged, as well as that the Government be empowered to sign agreements to compensate the municipalities of the islands that adopt said exceptions.
Barragán explained that this is the only resource “that has remained available in the face of the refusal of the Government and the groups that support them to process as a bill, with the consequent participation of Parliament, the ten decree laws that have been approved on the island “.
From CC-PNC-AHI, he said, “we have not been able to contribute or contribute anything and every time we have raised our voices or transferred the complaints of families, companies or producers of the primary sector we have been accused of breaking unity.”
Barreto also said that La Palma “cannot wait any longer for structural measures that provide certainty” so they hope that these amendments “can be debated and approved in Parliament.”
Another of the actions that deputy Palma has insisted on for months is that the real market value of the affected assets be applied, as of September 19, 2021, as a reference for the granting of aid and subsidies.
“We insist on structural measures, because until now they have only been patches: discounts, temporary housing and employment plans that will not contribute to recovering the economic and social fabric,” lamented the deputy.
He also indicated that they take advantage of this bill to insist once again on the need for exemption from the fuel tax on the green islands, “a debate that prevented it from being held in the regional chamber, which is why it has not been possible to include the Proposal for Law”.
The deputy also insisted that they will continue to defend the 60% reduction in personal income tax through an amendment to the General State Budget, “which only represents 54 million euros for the State.”
