The plenary session of Puerto de la Cruz approved yesterday, initially, the new ordinance that will govern circulation and mobility in the city, after the work carried out from the Security area in coordination with the rest of the municipal departments and with the participation of groups related to the matter. During the drafting process, several informative meetings were held with the different economic sectors and citizens of Porto, as well as with the sectors in which the transport regulations will have a direct impact.
With the aim of integrating the regulation of the basic conditions for issuing and using the parking card for people with disabilities and the pedestrian and parking areas with temporary limitations, the new standard meets the needs of these groups and benefits the commercial sector . The sectoral councils of the city, such as that of Commerce, as well as groups such as Por un Puerto Accesible, also participated.
In the plenary session, the mayor, Marco González, thanked, on behalf of the municipality, the commitment and technical work of the Consistory staff, as well as all the citizens who, individually or collectively, have contributed so that this ordinance can be approved. initially.
As a result of this work, a text is approved whose publication in the Official Gazette of the Province (BOP) opens a 30-day period for allegations, in order to collect more contributions that improve it.
The new norm dedicates a part to the improvement of the regulation of parking lots (the current one dates from 2003), for which it responds to the innovations introduced by other administrations in this sector. Another part meets the demands of people with reduced mobility, provides solutions to the needs of this group and creates new places in different areas of the city. A third part updates the planning of pedestrian routes, given the increase registered in recent years. All this based on a thorough study, assessing experiences from other municipalities and considering areas with heavy traffic to design the best solutions for the city. The ordinance also regulates the new personal mobility vehicles in an effort to adapt the norm to the reality of the municipality, points out the government group led by Marco González.
