SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 31 Oct. (EUROPE PRESS) –

Metrotenerife, a company of the Cabildo de Tenerife, has been one of the companies that has been involved in the entry into service of the Bahía de Cádiz Train-Tram (Trambahía) and after offering technical assistance since 2016, for the next six months it will be in charge of monitoring and supervision in the commercial operation of this new rail service managed by the Junta de Andalucía and operated by Renfe.

The insular councilor for Mobility and president of Metrotenerife, Enrique Arriaga, underlines that the Trambahía is “a milestone for national guided transport since its design allows it to circulate both on a tram platform inside the city, and on a railway track” .

Without a doubt, he continues in a note, “it is another example of the high qualification and experience acquired by our professionals, which is and will be an extra value when competing, together with companies and multinationals in the sector, in other projects of mobility around the world.

In 2016, the Junta de Andalucía awarded Metrotenerife, in a temporary union with the company GPO Ingeniería de Sistemas, the technical consultancy services for the start-up and initial supervision of the Cádiz tram line.

The technical advice process for the operator from Tenerife required the permanent and regular presence of directors and professionals from the operation and maintenance departments to carry out, among other actions, the preparation of the procedure documentation, the preparation of the bidding documents for the different maintenance contracts, as well as the theoretical and practical training of drivers and regulators for the new Cadiz tram.

In addition, Metrotenerife accompanied the operator in the ‘blank run’ with the verification of all the functionalities of the line before its entry into public service with passengers.

Starting this week, the Trambahía connects the municipalities of Chiclana de la Frontera, San Fernando, Puerto Real and Cádiz through 24 kilometres, 21 stops and a fleet of seven trams and it is estimated that the population served is around 233,500 people.
