The CC-PNC group in the Cabildo de Tenerife demands the suspension of the rates of the Insular Slaughterhouse to help the livestock sector.
The nationalist counselor, Antolín Bueno, recalls this Monday in a statement that “in March an agreement was unanimously approved in the Cabildo for the suspension of fees for the use of the Insular Slaughterhouse of Tenerife.”
Antolín Bueno points out that “the delay of the PSOE in complying with the agreements is harming the sector, which needs this help immediately”.
The nationalist counselor recalls that the measure would mean a saving of approximately 1.1 million euros, for many farmers they are at the limit of their possibilities.
Rising costs – mainly feed and fodder – have caused some ranchers to slaughter animals because they can’t afford to maintain them, he warns.
“The Cabildo has sufficient financial resources to meet the costs of the slaughterhouse,” says Bueno, while requesting that campaigns be increased to promote local consumption.
Likewise, it proposes to review the current measures of the REA (Specific Supply Regime) and the POSEI (Community Support Program for Agricultural Production in the Canary Islands) so as to protect local production against that of outside.
