SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 29 Oct. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Cabildo de Tenerife, through Turismo de Tenerife, has launched different actions to promote the destination in France, a market that will increase its regular air capacity to the island in the coming winter season by 22 percent compared to 2021 and 52 percent compared to 2019.
The island’s Director of Tourism, Laura Castro, explained that in recent weeks the island has received a dozen Gallic travel agents and has participated in the Top Resa fair in Paris, the only professional fair specializing in tourism in France, in the that brought together travel agents, tour operators and the specialized press.
Laura Castro highlighted the importance of the French market for the island and pointed out that the increase in air connectivity to Tenerife will allow the island to be connected during the winter season with up to 10 French airports, with some new routes or connections from Marseille, Lille, Lyon , Bordeaux or Nantes, operated by airlines such as Volotea, Ryanair or Transavia. In addition, she wanted to remember that in the first half of the year the island received 95,000 French tourists, 12 percent more than in the same period in 2021.
For his part, the CEO of Tenerife Tourism, David Pérez, pointed out that the French market is following a line of sustained growth, climbing positions and positioning itself as one of the five largest issuers of travelers to the island.
“For this reason, the Cabildo has renewed the island representative office in France and increased the promotion budget for the French market with the aim of consolidating this growth linked to the diversification and resilience strategy of the Tenerife destination. Most of the actions Promotional events planned for 2023 are already planned and the objectives for the year have been set,” he asserted.
TRAVEL AGENTS VISIT
The visit to the island of travel agents, organized by Turismo de Tenerife, took place from the 11th to the 15th of this month and was attended by ten professionals from Paris, Nice and Toulouse, specially selected from agencies specializing in tailor-made luxury travel and Golf.
Visitors were able to enjoy a helicopter tour of the south coast of the island, a guided tour of La Laguna (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), stargazing and an excursion to the Teide National Park. They also had the opportunity to get to know some of the most outstanding accommodation on the island, as well as the different golf courses scattered throughout the island territory.
In addition, at the end of September the island attended the Top Resa fair in Paris as part of the Turespaña stand and the delegation from Tenerife was made up, in addition to technicians from Tourism of Tenerife, by several of its associated companies, including Belive Hotels, Landmar Hotels, Hotel Mynd Adeje, Hotel Gala, and the receptive agencies Viajes Meridiano and LG Tours.
During the fair, the representatives of the island held an extensive agenda of meetings with tour operators and travel agents, who conveyed the good expectations of the arrival of travelers to Tenerife from France in the coming months.
