United We Can yesterday expressed its total rejection of the expenditure of 15 million euros planned by the Santa Cruz City Council to buy sculptures with which to create a franchise of the Rodin Museum in the chicharrera capital, to which most of the Viera building and Clavijo once the monument was rehabilitated.
Councilor Luisa Tamayo, spokesperson for UP in the area of Culture, showed the “indignation and shock” of this opposition group at the “total lack of transparency” with which the Government of CC and PP has managed the matter, “kidnapping the project” so that it is not debated neither in the collegiate bodies where the opposition is nor in public opinion, and with “hiding” its true cost for months, until the multimillion-dollar outlay on sculptures was known by the press. “An undemocratic way of acting,” said the mayor.
UP questions the economic viability of the project, “with an erratic study, with contradictory data, and taking cities like Malaga, on the continental territory, as a reference.”
