This was stated in the plenary session of the Cabildo by the first vice president of the executive, Enrique Arriaga (Citizens), who stressed that the delay in the tender is justified by the fact that “we have requested additional reports, in order to give the project all the legal guarantees ”.

“We do not want what happened with Cuna del Alma to happen again, that due to lack of any paper the project has to be paralyzed”, has indicated the also Minister of Roads. It should be remembered that the works of the tourism macroproject in the Port of Adeje that has been paralyzed (only 2% of the total works) have been because an inspection by the Island Council detected various irregularities, as well as the destruction of an archaeological site and that no measures had been taken to protect it. In addition, it consists of two negative reports and in the environmental report up to seven protected species that live in the area affected by the works do not appear.

Regarding the Motor Circuit, Arriaga has detailed that the works of phase one are already “practically finished”, and that those related to the second part will begin “as soon as possible”.

“We are not going to put such an important project for Tenerife at risk because of the rush”, concluded the island representative.

The Motor Circuit being built in Atogo, in Granadilla, will have an initial cost of around 51 million euros. Although construction is still underway, the Cabildo has already approved expenses of more than 600,000 euros for promotion alone.

The layout of the project reaches 4,050 meters in length and the cars will be able to reach maximum speeds of 320 kilometers per hour. The Cabildo justifies that it is an infrastructure “highly demanded” by Tenerife motor fans and that the facility will serve as a tourist attraction. However, according to experts, it is another plan that puts the population of Tenerife and the natural environment in check. This newspaper has tried to find out more details about the project through the Cabildo, but for reasons of the agenda of those responsible for the corporation in this matter, it has not been possible.
