The 18 councilors who add Canarian Coalition, Popular Party and non-members (former PSOE) yesterday voted against the credit modifications proposed by the municipal government (PSOE), made up of the seven remaining members of the Plenary of Arona. This is stated by the government team led by the socialist José Julián Mena.
The proposal of that government group to provide Guargacho with its only parking area, a cold room for the Farmer’s Market -as requested by the producers-, to provide sports equipment for all sports facilities and outdoor spaces ( calisthenics), an asphalting plan with an investment of almost three million euros to rehabilitate more than thirty roads in different towns –among which is Chayofita Avenue, in Los Cristianos–, and the demolition of the Old School of Maruchi –which will have to wait for the next mandate– are postponed due to the rejection of the majority of the Plenary.
The local government recalls that “it so happens that the opposition parties had presented proposals, demanded in plenary session and met with neighbors publicly claiming these actions against which, however, they have voted against.” That is to say, that CC, PP and those not attached “rejected the requests from neighbors and from the mayor himself, who had asked them for a high-mindedness and commitment to Arona.”
The PSOE defends that, “beyond partisan acronyms”, the proposals put forward via credit modifications make up “a set of initiatives that are requests from all these groups and that have no other purpose than to improve the quality of life and economic prospects , in the case of the producers of the market, who face survival day by day in such important facilities for Valle San Lorenzo as the Market».
The mixed group – made up of Ciudadanos por Arona, Sí Podemos and Ciudadanos – supported or abstained on most of the points presented to the plenary session by the PSOE within the chapter on credit modifications.
