The Governing Board of City Hall of Santa Cruz proceeded last Monday to approve the contracting of the work management and health and safety coordination service for the execution of the rehabilitation project of the Taucho House.
The contract was awarded to the architect Pedro Sicilia Martín for 17,759 euros, who will be in charge of the construction management in substitution of the previous architect who ended up resigning. The total amount of the work amounts to 195,487 euros and the intention of the City Council, according to the Heritage Councilor, Juan José Martínez, is that the work begins before the end of the year.
Located on calle de General Serrano, number 64, an agreement signed at the time between the local Corporation and the Social Security Treasury made it possible to undertake the rehabilitation of the Casa Taucho building, the purpose of which is to turn it into a cultural and social space, which is precisely the function that until now the members of the Taucho Social Center (CSO) collective have carried out, who first prevented the demolition of the building and then fought for an agreement to be reached.
