The Local Government Board of the City Council of El Rosario yesterday approved a modified technical project for the improvement of the Radazul Bajo water distribution network. This new economic injection, with which unforeseen events discovered while the work is being carried out are faced, amounts to a total amount of 475,094 euros, which is added to the 1.4 million of the project awarded through public tender at the end of last year. With this work, whose execution began in November last year, around eight kilometers of pipes have been renewed, a network that is more than three decades old and that lost more than 40% of the water it transported each year due to breakdowns. , breaks and leaks.
The mayor of El Rosario, Scholastic Gilmaintains that «the work, although it was awarded for 1.4 million euros, will cost close to two million, which accounts for the disaster that had been buried in the streets of Radazul, with rotten pipes and a chaos of electrical, hydraulic networks and sanitation that sometimes appeared overlapping each other.
In this sense, the first mayor emphasizes that “the mess of the pipes that we have found is of such magnitude that we have had to increase the economic injection of the project.” Among the problems detected in the subsoil of the Radazul Bajo urbanization are low-voltage networks interspersed with those of the water supply or sanitation and rainwater manholes that did not drain anywhere.
“Essential” performance
this performance is “essential for improving the water cycle and leaving behind network breakdowns and the waste they entail, the lack of pressure in the homes and the water cuts”, highlights Gil. The bulk of the work, which has an execution period of fifteen months, is now focused on Cervera street, after completing the Valdés street network, converted into an exit road for Radazul Bajo, which is accessed exclusively through Calle Juan Sebastian Elcano.
In the modified version of the project, which takes into account certain circumstances not initially contemplated due to the high degree of deterioration of the existing facilities, the design of three new standard sections stands out for some sections of Juan Sebastián Elcano Street and Magallanes Street; a new above-grade entrance connection chest, modified by the concurrence of several public service networks, and new scuppers placed at low points, replacing the pre-existing ones that drained onto the sidewalks.
It should be remembered that, due to the needs that this action entails, circulation in Radazul Bajo has been enabled as a one-way circuit to enter and exit. The entry of vehicles is carried out exclusively through Juan Sebastián Elcano street and the exit through Valdés street.
