The president of the Cabildo de Tenerife, Pedro Martín, accompanied by the CEO of Citizen Participation and Diversity, Nauzet Gugliotta, has visited the headquarters of the NGO Sonrisas Canarias, located in Valleseco, to learn about the work of the entity to assist families in situation of vulnerability on the island and has received 370,515 euros with which to date it has been able to reach 1,519 families from Tenerife.
The Cabildo, through the area of Social Action, Citizen Participation and Diversity, has allocated an item of three million euros to support 22 entities integrated into ‘Tenerife Isla Solidaria’, dependent on Sinpromi, dedicated to the distribution of first class products need.
Pedro Martín has highlighted the importance of giving visibility to the social work carried out in Tenerife by social associations such as Sonrisas Canarias, “which is dedicated to distributing food to twenty municipalities on the island, an example of how solidarity and volunteer work is reaching many families on the island”.
In his opinion it is a “disinterested work, motivated by the mere satisfaction of helping, at a social and humanitarian level, which is worthy of recognition by the entire Tenerife society.”
The president of Sonrisas Canarias, Luis Febles, indicated that “the priority continues to be the distribution of basic necessities, although on dates such as Christmas we always look for solutions to ensure that families derived from the municipalities can have toys for minors, among other products, thanks to the involvement of entities, both public and private”.
Nauzet Gugliotta explained that this meeting is part of the round of visits to organizations and social entities that are being carried out “to learn about the services they provide to citizens, especially vulnerable groups, and to analyze possible lines of collaboration in the that the Cabildo can collaborate and that they can continue operating and providing their social assistance services on the island”.
In this sense, the island official applauded the work carried out throughout the pandemic by the entities, helping and trying to reach as many people as possible, “a job that we have to continue promoting from the administrations to guarantee its maintenance over time. “.
