This agreement, approved unanimously, proposes other actions such as regulating the entrance space to Punta de Teno, avoiding the overcrowding of vehicles and the insecurity of pedestrians; enable toilets in Punta de Teno; improve the bus stops on the way to this space from the town of Buenavista del Norte; rehabilitate the lighthouse, or improve the accessibility of the La Monja viewpoint.

The nationalist councilor Félix Fariña thanked the support of the rest of the political groups in approving a motion in which the Cabildo is urged to urgently promote a commission to monitor and evaluate the measures adopted, as well as the new measures based on of the detected needs. Fariña adds that it is necessary “to regulate the entrance space to Punta de Teno, with a parking area, signage, lighting and a waiting area and toilets.”

The CC-PNC counselor believes that the council «it must also enable toilets, provisional or definitive, in Punta de Teno, avoiding damage to the environment due to the current absence», as well as «act at all bus stops of the route, from Buenavista to Punta de Teno to provide them with greater comfort and safety» with special attention to those located on Camino del Risco, Punta de Teno and La Cruz de Toledo.

CC-PNC also points out that the Cabildo must coordinate efficiently with the Buenavista del Norte City Council in order to improve the existing infrastructure: “They have to assess the possibility of accelerating the refurbishment of the lighthouse, offering its facilities to visitors, and improving accessibility to the Mirador de la Monja. In addition, it is necessary to enable new trails and condition the existing ones ». Another of the measures included in the motion is to improve the information offered with the publication of audio-guides that can be offered on board the bus transport service and the improvement of the interpretive panels.

At the proposal of Sí Podemos, it was urged to include in the 2023 island budget the necessary items for the rehabilitation works of the Punta de Teno lighthouse, which already has an execution project, and for the actions contemplated in the recovery plan for the ecosystem of the Teno Bajo platform. He insisted on promoting the Teno marine reserve, of which the Department of Fisheries of the Canary Islands Government I was already speaking in 1989, 33 years ago.

Sí Podemos also included in the final motion the agreement to “enable a pedestrian route between the beginning of the Risco path and Buenavista, with the aim of linking the visit to the natural space with the town, in such a way that synergies are established that favor the development local economy”, and to “prepare the subprogram for public use of Punta de Teno”.
