The improvement of the sea front of Playa San Juan begins shortly

The UTE Asfalto y Obras Tafuriaste SL and Construcciones Elfidio Pérez will carry out the improvement of the maritime front of San Juan Beach, work that will begin at the beginning of November with an execution period of 15 months. This action, included in the Tenerife and the Sea programme, will cost 2,050,354 euros and will be financed 80% by the Cabildo (1,681,061 euros) and 20% by the City Council of Guía de Isora (369,293 euros).

In this second phase, the work will focus on the section of Avenida del Emigrante from Calle Isla de El Hierro to Avenida Venezuela, in which public use of the road will be prioritized to make it more accessible to pedestrians. Sidewalks will be widened to encourage foot traffic and create shaded areas.

The island’s director of Tourism, Laura Castro, and the mayor, Josefa Mesa Mora, presented to the residents the content of an “ambitious” project that will provide the town “with a wide avenue open to the sea throughout its length” and will favor transit to the commercial area. The director stressed that “the project has prioritized pedestrian use over road traffic, gaining space and allowing the local population and visitors to enjoy this marine environment with breadth and comfort.”

Laura Castro emphasized that the route of Avenida del Emigrante affected by the work will have tree-lined areas, with the aim of creating shaded and rest areas equipped with accessible and modern benches, among other services and infrastructures, “that promote the welfare of the population.

In the meeting with the neighbors, which included the intervention of the municipal councilor, Josefa Mesa, and the project technicians. Castro described the meeting as fruitful, prior to the start of work, to dispel the doubts of the neighbors and publicize the work of this phase “which, in addition, represents an economic boost for the town and the municipality.”

Josefa Mesa, the mayor of Guía de Isora, highlighted the benefits of this remodeling for the area. “We are aware of the inconvenience that the works generate in businesses and neighbors, but, once finished, we will have a wide and pleasant avenue for pedestrians, which will enhance their relationship with the sea and favor terraces and shops,” she assured.

Table, which described the meeting as “beneficial”, assured that local proposals will be taken into consideration and the loss of parking spaces will be compensated by setting up a site, which will be adapted for this use. She recalled that the City Council has also modified the ordinance of fords so that they can be used for parking.

This action is part of the Tenerife Mar program, included in the Medi-Fdcan, which aims to restore vitality and charm to the coastal towns and beach areas and enhance the destination’s tourist offer.
