SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 22 Oct. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The president of the PP of the Canary Islands, Manuel Domínguez, has assured this Saturday that the islanders are asking for a change “cried out” and that the popular ones are the “real alternative” to the current regional government.
“It had been a long time since I had heard of the party on the islands as a real alternative government or as that fundamental element of the next government,” he said during the closing of the traveling convention of the popular ‘A Plan to Govern’, which featured the participation of the general secretary and spokesperson for the PP in Congress, Cuca Gamarra.
For this reason, Domínguez understood that the convention has managed to demonstrate the strength of the PP and that the other parties “know that we are not bluffing.” “We are prepared – he continued – and at the gates of doing something great for the Canary Islands”.
“The canaries want a change and they cry out for it. They demand a change, that is the best survey and the data that indicates that we are on the right path, and in large part we owe it to our national president, Alberto Núñez Feijóo”, I observe.
The president of the PP of the Canary Islands made special emphasis that the formation has experienced difficult moments in recent years in which the party was “cornered”, “attacked” and “despised”.
“They took it for granted,” he continued, “that we would not return and that we would not once again be an alternative government. They were wrong because the PP of the Canary Islands has come back stronger than ever, with desire and without being crutches or hinges of anything. We’re going to prove it.”
THE BEST SOCIAL POLICY IS THE CREATION OF EMPLOYMENT
For his part, Domínguez pointed out that the best social policy that the archipelago needs is job creation and that a government has to work “and not divide society between the rich and the poor.”
He also referred to the need to lower taxes in the Canary Islands because the problem is not economic resources, but management; while he advocated free, accessible and quality healthcare; and stressed that the development of the environment is compatible with economic development.
“The Canary Islands need a change. The health crisis, the volcano of La Palma or the War in Ukraine have become the perfect excuse to do nothing and feel sorry”, recalling that in the Canary Islands health “has not improved”, that a third of the population is at risk of not reaching the end of the month and that more than 811,000 Canarians are at risk of severe poverty.
For this reason, he understood that the Canary Islands cannot continue to be subjugated “under the boot of Pedro Sánchez” and “the submission of Ángel Víctor Torres, who only accepts orders that come from Madrid.”
