At that time Gara recorded her gratitude “to all the staff of the Residence in Tenerife who treated us with such humanity, professionalism and affection. (Although except for some people)”. And “forgetting” about “the damn protocols and things that we must change as far as Health is concerned”extended thanks to midwives, pediatricians, auxiliaries, residents, gynecologists, cleaning staff, anesthesiologists, operating room staff, etc… They are amazing, I will never forget them”.
Almost two months after that experience, Gara has started a campaign to collect signatures on the well-known Change.org platform in which he relates his experience and asks that the protocols in the delivery room be changed to avoid putting the life of the mother and her baby at risk.
“We must change the protocols established in hospitals and residences. Where many women and their newborn children suffer for it. Coming to risk the lives of both. And many of the times lamenting deaths”, says Gara.
In psychological treatment
She has decided to tell about her own experience, recounting that she had “a horrible birth”. The situation caused “postpartum stress, anxiety and trauma” and confess that follow a psychological treatment because of that situation. “It could have been avoided if they didn’t let so much time go by in some extreme cases like mine. My son lowered the constants, he swallowed meconium and was hospitalized for almost a week”Gara remembers.
He regrets that his is not an isolated case. “Thanks to an explanatory video about my experience, many women have told me their traumatic stories, where not only the deaths of babies could have been avoided, but also traumas to their mothers. As in my case, ”she assures.
Reveals that the claims made in health centers for this type of case “have not been of any usea, excusing themselves that these are the protocols to follow”, he complains.
“Today I want to create this petition so that no woman and her child will ever go through something similar again. For those who suffered it, for those who are suffering and will suffer, ”she indicates hopefully in the petition that she opened on Change.org a week ago.
After recounting his experience, Gara has received numerous supports on her social networkswhere several mothers have also reported difficult situations at the time of childbirth.
