Some thirty environmental groups, neighborhood associations and social organizations have called this Saturday, October 22, at 11:00 a.m., a demonstration in Plaza Weyler, in Santa Cruz de Tenerife to demand “the recovery of nature in the Canary Islands” and show their rejection of projects such as Cuna del Alma and the motor circuit.

under the motto Canary Islands are not for sale, they love and defend themselvesthe organizers of this march expect a massive mobilization by the citizens of Tenerife to defend “a change in the industrial model, the tourist moratorium, and self-reliance on renewable energy”, the conveners affirm in a statement.
This demonstration is added to the one that is also called that same day in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria against the Chira-Soria macroproject.
In addition, from the convening groups they assure that “the current laws are designed for speculation and are ending the few natural spaces that we have left, so necessary for the mental health of the population.”
“We need a decrease in the sector and, failing that, apply regenerative policies to recover destroyed environments,” add the convening organizations, indicating that the date coincides with the day on which three months have passed since a group of young people camped in the works for the Cuna del Alma project in Puertito de Adeje.
Another of the projects opposed by the groups organizing this protest is the motor circuit, which they describe as “scandalous”.
“Million dollar public investment to promote private motor leisure, in the midst of an unprecedented crisis of fossil fuels and energy generation, while the management, conservation and restoration or monitoring of natural habitats, of spaces and wild species, is totally insufficient and deficient due to lack of means”, they affirm.
