The Cabildo de Tenerife, through the Mobility area, has awarded the consultant Iván Solla Veloso the drafting of the project for the construction and commissioning of direct access and exit lanes to the Güímar Valley Industrial Estate from the South highway (TF- 1). The term of execution of these works will be of two months.
The first vice president and Minister of Mobility, Enrique Arriaga, stated that with the entry into service of the new roads they “will gain in fluidity and road safety in one of the roads that concentrates the largest circulation of vehicles in the industrial estates of the Island ”.
Arriaga stressed that access to the Güímar Industrial Estate from the TF-1 is “frequently collapsed” due to the traffic that converges from this road of regional interest and from the TF-281 highway.
To alleviate this congestion, it is proposed to execute “several direct lanes” in the access and exit roundabouts to the Polígono from the motorway, with preference for collective transport vehicles.
The counselor pointed out that in the last three years direct lanes have been set up in points of special concentration of vehicles “to alleviate the serious problem of traffic flow that exists in various parts of the Island.” Once the project for the Polígono de Güímar has been drafted, the bidding for the work will begin so that they can begin to be executed “as soon as possible,” Arriaga said.
