The passage of the Hermine storm near the Canary Islands caused numerous problems, mainly due to the intense rain that accompanied its evolution. A rain that in municipalities such as Santa Cruz caused numerous breakdowns in public lighting, leaving entire streets without lighting for several days after the storm passed.
According to data from the area of Public services, and at the request of the PSOE, last September 226 notices were registered for incidents in the lighting of the city. In the response provided by the area directed by Carlos Tarife to the Socialists, one can read: “Timely information requested from the Public Services Technical Servicefrom the City Council’s incident management platform, all those generated in the month of September in terms of public lighting are exported, with a total of 226 notices, including calls made directly by citizens to the company’s telephone service. maintenance”.
In the response, it is recognized that “in the last two weeks, incidents have multiplied extraordinarily, due to the passage through the Islands of tropical storm Hermine.”
In the list that accompanies the response, all the incidents appear as repaired except for three. Specifically, in El Barco street, where, although the lighting has been repaired and is working, there are missing masonry finishes. In the Ramón y Cajal extension, the column is pending reinstallation, and in Adán Martín Menis street, to replace a lamp.
