The Círculo Podemos Los Realejos has alerted citizens and public authorities to what it describes as a “serious mobility problem” that this municipality in the north of Tenerife is currently suffering from. According to the complaint, the collapse of vehicles that occurs every day at the entrances and exits of the municipality or in the streets near educational centers has become a problem that the administrations have to solve.
The party attributes responsibility for this collapse to the coincidence of a multitude of works on fundamental roads in the municipality, such as Calle Los Cuartos or San Agustín, the result of “poor planning” by the government group (PP), as well as the closure from the exit to the motorway along Camino El Patronato, which is an example of the “lack of coordination that exists between the town hall and the Cabildo de Tenerife”.
In the opinion of Podemos, the mobility problems in Los Realejos are not only due to the unexpected closure of Camino El Patronato by the Cabildo, but are also motivated by “a disastrous municipal design of Los Barros street, with two roads that constantly collapse and a median that could have been replaced by a new reversible road”, indicates the coordinator of Podemos Los Realejos, Sergio Siverio.
The councilor emphasizes that “realejera citizens not only have to endure the huge queues on the highway, but also the collapse of many roads in their municipality due to the ineffective management of the government group.” In his opinion, “this problem that people suffer responds to the electoral interests of the PP, which constantly seeks direct conflict with the Cabildo and carry out works at close range before the elections.”
“The problem of the recent closure of the Camino El Patronato towards the highway shows that the Los Realejos City Council and the Cabildo de Tenerife must sit down at a table as soon as possible, talk to make a diagnosis of the mobility situation in the municipality and jointly launch urgent solutions to solve the problems we are observing”, Siverio points out forcefully.
In the last plenary session of the Cabildo, a PP motion was debated that demanded the opening of the Camino El Patronato, which in the opinion of the insular government does not respond to legality, for which an amendment with alternative solutions was proposed. Podemos abstained in both votes, understanding that the solution must be agreed with dialogue by both administrations, since none of the current proposals was viable to solve the structural problem suffered by Los Realejos.
“The City Council of Los Realejos must stop generating constant conflicts with the Cabildo de Tenerife, as happened previously with the La Montañeta wall, and get down to work once and for all to dialogue and promote solutions to the serious problem of mobility that, after all, the people of Los Realejos suffer every day”, Siverio stated.
