The City Hall of Arico has reported this Monday that access to the bathing area of the Grande de la Punta de Abona beach has been limited, due to the fact that it has been affected by rockfalls.
The landslides occurred on Sunday and the municipal corporation has limited access to the bathing area until further notice, and in order to avoid any danger to people.
the mayor of Arico, Sebastian Martin; The Councilor for Works and Services, Juan José Armas, and the Councilor for Security, Andrés Martínez, along with those responsible for security and technicians from the consistory, visited the area on Monday to assess the situation.
After the visit, a decree from the Mayor’s Office was issued to limit access to the affected beach from this Monday, October 10, until further notice due to the “landslides caused and the serious risk to the safety of people.”
The Councilor for Security, Andrés Martínez, pointed out that “the area has been secured since early in the morning and now the pertinent decisions will be made according to the technical reports that will be issued by our city council together with the coast technicians whom we have already contacted. ”.
The landslide has mainly affected the bathing area and the promenade that one of the stones has hindered.
The mayor emphasizes that “the good news is that there is no need to regret material or personal damage and the area has not been isolated.”
