The City Council of La Victoria de Acentejo has opened the registration period for all residents interested in participating in the cultural and sports schools, as well as in the different municipal workshops, which have been organized for the 2022-2023 academic year. It is a wide range of training, made up of 30 proposals, which is characterized by the variety of disciplines and modalities.
The mayor of La Victoria de Acentejo, Juan Antonio García Abreu, highlights the significant role that this program plays “in contributing to a more active and fulfilling life, both physically and mentally, of all the people who dare to participate in it ”. “After two and a half years complicated by the pandemic -he adds-, it has become clear how necessary these types of revitalizing actions are, because they not only contribute to the promotion of healthy and enriching habits, but also prevent the social isolation of many neighbors and neighbors”.
The sports section of this program is made up of classes in badminton, volleyball, paddle tennis, judo, karate, futsal, tennis, Canarian wrestling, maintenance, basketball, Thai chi chuan and rhythmic gymnastics, while in its cultural aspect classes are planned IT, theater, design and fashion, crafts, painting, Latin dance, modern and urban dance.
In turn, these learning proposals are complemented by those taught at the Municipal Music Academy (AMM), whose headquarters in the San Juan Cultural Space will offer singing, guitar, timple, lute, bandurria, partying and initiation classes. at the piano “For this council it is important that our neighbors can learn to play a musical instrument without having to leave the town,” emphasizes Juan Antonio García.
The programming, which begins this week, will take place in different facilities and resources that are distributed practically throughout the town: the Municipal Sports Pavilion and the Covered Pavilion of San Juan, the cultural centers of Santo Domingo, Los Arroyos, La Resbala, San Juan and La Vera, the Santo Domingo, Príncipe Felipe and Los Bajos schools, the Training Center, the House of Youth and Art, the El Pinar Cultural Space, the Santa Eulalia social center and the Municipal Padel Court.
“The program of municipal schools and workshops is adapted each year to the needs and affinities of the population” comments the councilor responsible for the Department of Culture, Yurena Gutiérrez González. “Although -he adds-, in each new edition the vast majority of the proposals are maintained, it is also possible to incorporate other activities in response to the demands of our neighbors, to whom we ask them to send us their suggestions in order to implement them. if there is a sufficient group”, highlights the mayor.
