Fecam confirms the need to invest in educational infrastructure

Within the framework of the Executive Committee, the Canarian Federation of Municipalities (Fecam) confirmed the need to invest in educational infrastructure. The body chaired by the mayor of Candelaria, María Concepción Brito, demands that the State recover the Educational Infrastructure Plan, thus providing the Canary Islands with the necessary resources to correct this deficit. This is how Fecam transmits it after the meeting of the Executive Committee held yesterday at the Villa Mariana City Hall, which is managed by the president of the Federation.

The Canarian mayors addressed issues that will be debated in the next Municipal Council of the Canary Islands, among which are the preliminary drafts of the Circular Economy Law or the one referring to the new administrative, social and economic measures that will modify some of the Canarian laws, as well as the Local Police Coordination Law.

Added to this is the stabilization of the job public, social welfare and dependency, these two issues with which Fecam actively works with the General Directorate, to try to simplify dependency protocols. In addition, the Executive Committee dealt with the new tax created by the State Waste Law, which will promote the selective collection and treatment of garbage, reducing the tons that now go to landfill. However, initially it will have a negative impact on the municipal coffers, so “mechanisms are sought so that, while raising awareness about the new processes, we can also recover the income equivalent to this new expense. An intense job in which we will be immersed in these coming months.

It is exposed by the president of the Fecam, Mari Brito, who emphasizes that “we have dealt with very important issues for municipalism.” At the time, she expressed her satisfaction at having the mayors and mayors of the Committee in the municipality. During the meeting, as usual, the First Vice President, Francisco Linares, presented the hostess with a memento of the meeting. For its part, the City Council of Candelaria gave Fecam a piece of pottery commemorating the meeting, made by the Casa Las Miquelas Pottery Center.

Previously, the Committee visited El Rebusco Bodegas and the Mahou San Miguel Factory, then went to the Basilica of Candelaria, where they received explanations from the official chronicler, Octavio Rodríguez.
