SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Oct. 4 (EUROPE PRESS) –
CEOE-Tenerife has highlighted this Tuesday that the drop in unemployment in September by 1,628 people in the Canary Islands “is good news, above all, because it is due to private hiring and not public hiring, largely due to the rebound in the sector services, especially restaurants, commerce and tourism”.
In the opinion of the employers, this is the system “that works” in the recovery “after the long fall and slow recovery from Covid-19”.
Along these lines, he stressed that “the important thing is that the health of companies is maintained over time in order to sustain these jobs, since prices continue to rise and it is not possible to transfer all the extra costs that companies are suffering to the final price , which is causing all business margins to go down”.
CEOE-Tenerife has stated in a note that 90%, and even more, of all those people who are being hired are companies, generally with one or two workers, and that they are the ones that make up the majority of the business fabric of the Canary Islands.
“The pending issue is that the reduction in unemployment is gaining intensity in sectors other than the usual ones, such as tourism, restaurants and commerce,” the employers’ association concluded.
