SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, Oct. 1 (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Tenerife Bluetrail, organized by the Cabildo through Ideco and which will take place from June 8 to 10, 2023, will launch three new modalities aimed at families, children and a route for joëlettes, special chairs adapted for athletes with reduced mobility. This mountain race opens today, October 1, registration through the website www.tenerifebluetrail.com
Up to 50 teams of a maximum of five components in which there must be at least one adult and one minor can sign up for the family race, 5.3 kilometers long. That same distance will be the one that athletes in the joëlettes race will have to overcome, while the new children’s modality, 500 meters, is aimed at children under seven years of age who must be accompanied by an adult.
The rest of the modalities will be the Ultra, of 102 kilometers; the Trail, with a distance of 73 kilometers that also has a relay modality with sections of 25 and 48 kilometers; Marathon, with a total distance of 44 kilometers; Medium, which covers a distance of 24 kilometers; the Night Vertical, 5.25 kilometers, and the Bluetrail Challenge for people with disabilities, which includes three distances of 7.2, 5.3 and 1.2 kilometers.
The island councilor for Sports, Concepción Rivero, wanted to recall that after eleven editions “the event has become an example of sustainability which, in addition to its well-known attractions such as the fact that it is the highest race in Spain and one of the few that crosses a World Heritage Site, adds its commitment to the environment and to safeguarding the fragile territory through which it runs”.
Along these lines, Rivero especially highlighted “the coordination that we have always maintained with the technicians of the Teide National Park to attend to all their guidelines related to the load capacity of each of the spaces as well as the limitation of the number of participants to protect the sensitive environment that the race passes through, a measure that also makes it exclusive”.
The finish line of the Tenerife Bluetrail, which will cross eight municipalities, will once again be located in Puerto de la Cruz. The race will maintain the same routes as last year, with the start of the marathon modality from the Plaza de la Basílica de Candelaria and the Vertical from Barranco Hondo to Las Lagunetas.
The next edition of the test will have a maximum of 3,400 runners including the new modalities, but the limitation of the participants who cross the Teide National Park is maintained to respect the territory and the quality of the race. The Ultra version will have 500 participants, just like the Trail, while the Half and Marathon will have 900 and 800 places, respectively. The Trail Relay mode will be reserved for 50 couples and the Vertical has 150 seats.
The prices provided by the organization range between 10 euros for the Vertical if you also participate in another modality and 135 euros for the Ultra. In the case of the Bluetrail Challenge and the joëlettes race, they are free for the participants.
