The Municipal plenary session of Santa Cruz yesterday approved an institutional motion presented by the PSOE, in which the City Council promised to promote and support those nightlife venues or parties that create networks of spaces free of sexual violence in the capital. This motion also approves the creation of a campaign to prevent sexual harassment of women in nightlife venues.
With this initiative, the Consistory undertakes to support premises that are aware of this type of aggression, giving examples of leisure spaces in which, for example, posters are placed in the toilets informing women what to do in the face of these aggressions, with phrases such as “if a man harasses you, come to the bar and ask for a shot x, we will help you”. This would be an example of how these situations could be avoided in nightlife venues, as stated in the approved text.
