This initiative is an integrating feminist event, from which, through music and urban dance, the aim is to convey a message that breaks with gender stereotypes and that contributes and promotes the expansion of the range of artistic references.
Throughout the festival, workshops and concerts will be offered aimed at the youth population between the ages of 12 and 35, aimed at raising awareness and preventing sexist violence in the adolescent and youth population.
“By launching ‘Dale, Festival de Perreo Feminista’ we want to break gender stereotypes by making visible a wide range of artistic references from our land, while laying the foundations to raise awareness and prevent sexist violence in the adolescent and youth population” , affirmed Laura Fuentes during the presentation ceremony.
The general director added that “social and cultural equality is necessary” and the objective is that “women are not the only ones who dance or make sexualized excuses so that men have great virality in their songs, which is seeks is equality in songs, dances or music in general”.
He also recalled that this will be “the first feminist festival of this importance in the Canary Islands” and they want to transfer it to the rest of the islands.
The mayor of the tourist city stressed that Puerto de la Cruz “is a municipality that is friendly to feminist policies” and confessed that he was “delighted” that the source that feeds equality policies and a gender perspective are arts such as music.
“This will be a pioneering festival, a clear example of transversality between the City Council and the General Directorate of Youth. Over time it will be remembered that the first of the ‘Dale’ festivals was held in Puerto de la Cruz,” he said.
