SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 28 Sep. (EUROPE PRESS) –
Fernando Guadalupe, Gara Morales and Oliver Ferrera, students of Escuela de Canarias Hotels (Hecansa), a center attached to the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce of the Government of the Canary Islands, have become the winners of the VII Championship of Young Chefs of the Canary Islands 2022 – Binter Grand Prize ‘The Kitchen in Green’.
This gastronomic contest has been organized by the Institución Ferial de Tenerife (IFTSAU) and the company InterIdeas in the VII Gastronomic Hall of the Canary Islands – GastroCanarias 2022.
The official day of the competition, which took place this Wednesday at the facilities of the Tenerife Fairgrounds, was attended by five finalists and their respective assistants.
Among them was also David Hernández, a student at the Escuela de Canarias Hotels.
Guadalupe won the first prize of the contest, Morales became the second classified and Ferrera the best assistant.
Like the rest of the finalists, they had to devise and prepare a dish for the public. The ingredients came in a surprise box provided by the organization, with a selection of local products with which they had to make the dish.
Finally, the award was decided by a single jury, which took into account aspects such as food hygiene, presentation and the ability of the participants, Hecansa details in a note.
Participation in this type of experience is part of Hecansa’s training proposal.
The Hotels Escuela de Canarias establishments seek to create opportunities for students to be publicly recognized, demonstrating their qualities and aptitudes, becoming a way to project their professional careers and bring them closer to the world of work.
