The President of the Council of TenerifePedro Martín (PSOE), will appear in the next insular plenary session this Friday, September 30, at the request of Sí Podemos Canarias to “report the irregularities and administrative defects presented by the file of the urbanization project called Cradle of the Soul in the Port of Adeje”. This has been explained by the party, which adds that it asks Pedro Martín “to rule on the unacceptable altercation produced yesterday in the works, in which the construction staff, the security staff and the project director himself, Andrés Muñoz, brutally attacked the activists who are camped in the area to demand, in a peaceful way, that the Law be complied with and that they be protected our territory”. In relation to the latter, Sí Podemos Canarias criticizes “the silence maintained until now by the president of the corporation.”

The spokesperson and island councilor María José Belda affirms that Sí Podemos Canarias condemns and flatly rejects “the violent actions and attacks committed last Monday against the activists camped in Puertito de Adeje; We transfer all our support and solidarity to those who are fighting daily against the injustices that are being committed in this project, having to suffer harassment, threats and aggression from the first day.
Belda points out that “the island government, led by Pedro Martín, is co-responsible for everything that is happening around this work, since the president must work urgently and in coordination with the Government of the Canary Islands to achieve a complete, immediate stoppage and definitive of the same; but he continues to allow a project to be carried out that is destroying our fragile territory and part of our history, at the same time that this attack is taking place under violent attacks against the Tenerife citizens themselves who are protesting to defend Tenerife”.
María José Belda points out that Pedro Martín “cannot continue to ignore the reality of the serious environmental and patrimonial attack that is taking place in said area, and for this reason we demand this appearance in which we will ask him to come to his senses and act urgently to put an end to this action, with which the PSOE faithfully follows the policies established by CC in past mandates”.
In this sense, Belda highlights that “the false promises of change defended at the beginning of the mandate by the current government group have remained in policies sells fumes and empty words, since our political group is the only critical voice within the Cabildo that is always alone in the fight against harmful projects like this one, the Motor Circuit, the Fonsalía port or the South train, among others”. Belda announces that his group is “coordinating with the Government of the Canary Islands and the City Council of Adeje with the aim of putting an end to this attack on our Earth and our people.”
Investigation to clarify the attacks
For his part, counselor David Carballo demands that “an investigation be carried out into the serious attacks committed against the activists last Monday, as well as the violent attack carried out by Andrés Muñoz, director of the Cuna del Alma project, a trusted man DC and former manager of the public company Metrotenerife for over a decade.” Carballo criticizes that “Pedro Martín allows a work carried out through the caciquil and mafia practices developed by Muñoz to continue, who already seemed untouchable after having been protected by the mantle of CC for years, while causing the loss of numerous labor rights to the workforce. of Metropolitano under his management”. The director of Sí Podemos Canarias recalls that “the current government group has not yet held Andrés Muñoz responsible for having hidden a scam of almost 100,000 euros of public money from the Board of Directors of Metrotenerife and the Cabildo itself.”
Carballo denounces that “PSOE, Cs, CC and PP continue to sell our Island to a mass tourism model that is causing its destruction, prioritizing the well-being of those who come from abroad to visit us while at the same time worsening the lives of the people of Tenerife. , the conservation of Tenerife and its biodiversity”. In this regard, the counselor recalls that “last June, the rest of the political forces unanimously rejected our proposal to promote a tourist moratorium in Tenerife and limit the creation of new tourist places, making it clear that we are the only political force that bets truly for redirecting the tourism model of the all inclusive that is depredating our Island, towards a sustainable, quality and responsible tourism that ensures the protection of our limited territory”.
Alleged irregularities in project documentation
The island councilor Cristo González defends that “the administrative file of Cuna del Alma presents enough irregularities and administrative defects so that Pedro Martín, as president of Tenerife, has already ordered that the entire work be put to an end.” González recalls that “the General Directorate of Heritage of the Government of the Canary Islands has already imposed a very serious sanction on the company promoting said work, Segundas Casas Adeje SL, for the irrecoverable destruction of archaeological sites, with the corresponding fine of 600,000 euros”.
In the same way, Cristo González points out that, recently, “the Ecological Transition area of the Government of the Canary Islands has also raised doubts regarding the continuity of the project, by questioning that certain environmental conditions must be taken into account for the works to continue, so it seems that administrative defects continue to emerge that cast doubt on the legality of this work”. Therefore, González affirms that “Pedro Martín must face the public and respond to all these questions in the next plenary session.”
