Since last Friday, the Canary Islands have registered a total of 229 new positives in covid-19 among people over 60 years of age, which is the population group that is followed up after passing the acute phase of the pandemic.
The accumulated number of cases of coronavirus among this group amounts to 97,784 people in the Canary Islands. Thus, the Cumulative Incidence for this age group at 14 days stands at 208.76 cases per 100,000 inhabitants and at 7 days at 97.11.
Currently, in the Archipelago there are 79 people admitted for coronavirus, of whom six are in the ICU and the rest, 73, on the ward.
On the other hand, in the last four days there have been five deaths, three in Gran Canaria and two in Tenerife. All the people, aged between 82 and 92 years, had previous pathologies and were hospitalized.
The Ministry of Health reported that since last August 12, and in compliance with the Resolution of August 5 of the General Directorate of Public Health of the Ministry of Health, the calculation of beds occupied by patients with covid-19 takes into account the number of beds occupied by patients with pneumonia or acute respiratory infection or another pathology that is considered to be attributable to a SARS-CoV-2 infection.
