SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE, 28 Sep. (EUROPE PRESS) –
The Autonomous Organization of Museums and Centers (OAMC) of the Cabildo de Tenerife hosts the exhibition ‘Clowntrait’ by photographer Asier Bastida at the Casa Lercaro in La Laguna. This exhibition that pays tribute to laughter is part of the International Clownbaret Festival (FIC) and will be open to the public from today, September 28, until November 6.
The Councilor for Museums, Concepción Rivero, the director of the FIC, Brian Rodríguez, and the deputy director of the Museum, Carmen Dolores Chinea, were present at the inauguration.
The counselor indicated that this exhibition is “a tribute to all the people who are dedicated to clowning and who use laughter and joy to awaken emotions and memories in viewers.” In addition, she encouraged all citizens to visit it to “appreciate the best clowns in the world gathered in a collection of photographs and thus enjoy an audiovisual proposal that is part of this festival.”
The director of the International Clownbaret Festival (FIC), Brian Rodríguez, thanked the Museums of Tenerife for making Asier Bastida’s work shine as it should. In addition, he recalled that “within the festival’s program there will also be events in other venues such as the Museum of Nature and Archeology (MUNA), which will host workshops and shows by clown masters, such as Paolo Nani or Jose Luis Redondo” .
For her part, the deputy director of Casa Lercaro, Carmen Dolores Chinea, assured that “the clown left the circus long ago to spread through theaters, streets, hospitals and even museums.” She commented that “in these images, the photographer captures the outfits and accessories of important clowns, but above all, their gestures, which is what most characterizes them.”
In the artist’s own words, these snapshots “rewind the viewer to childhood memories, circuses and childhood innocence.”
The original collection is made up of more than 250 photographs of clowns that are national and international references. Casa Lercaro has hosted 30 of these portraits that represent many of the clown professionals who have participated in FIC. The exhibition can be enjoyed free of charge from 09:00 to 19:00 and from 10:00 to 17:00 on holidays.
