Arrested one of the activists who oppose the Puertito project

One of the activists who were yesterday morning at the protest camp against the construction of the Cuna del Alma tourist development, on private land where the works are being carried out in Puertito de Adeje, was arrested by the Civil Guard. Sources from the Government Delegation confirmed to Europa Press that the arrest was due to an attack on one of the agents.

The Civil Guard went to the area where the Cuna del Alma works are being carried out after a group of these activists, who calls for the suspension of the projector, access the offices of this urbanization. The activists staged a struggle with members of private security and project workers. In the morning, members of the private security and urbanization workers had recovered a mechanical shovel that was taken by the activists in order to continue the work, which according to all the administrations – the Canarian Government, the Tenerife Island Council and the Adeje City Council – have all permits and comply with the urban planning of the area.

Angel Victor Torrespresident of Canary Islands GovernmentHe called the incidents “regrettable.” “Dialogue is always the right way to solve problems. Never violence. Let everything that happened be clarified », Torres wrote on his Twitter account. Some of the Cuna del Alma workers had to leave the offices, installed on privately owned land, thanks to the protection of the Civil Guard.
