Scare at the Luis Álvarez Cruz school in Las Galletas (Arona). A large palm tree fell in the patio area today but luckily did not cause any personal injury.
The event generated the logical alarm among students and teachers, and among some parents who were outside the school, who witnessed the collapse of the tree, predictably caused by the recent rains.
At the time the fall occurred, a group of students were returning from the sports field to the classroom accompanied by the Physical Education teacher, who were unharmed, although with the obvious shock and nervousness caused by the impact.
The management of the center immediately notified the Ministry of Education and communicated the facts to the Arona Town Hallwhich sent several local police crews to the scene, who preventively proceeded to seal off several entrances to the school while awaiting the evaluation of the entire school campus by the competent technicians in the matter.
The center’s management awaits the results of the technical reports. Yesterday, the management team asked the parents of the students to be understanding tomorrow when it comes to taking and picking up their children from the center, since it is foreseeable that it will not be possible to do it through the usual doors, neither with the speed nor with the daily schedules.
